Mission

The goal of the Therapy Center is to provide affordable, high quality psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy in an inclusive clinical setting where people of every age and life circumstance are welcome. This non-profit, community-based organization provides short and long term therapeutic services to adults, children, adolescents, couples and families.

History

The Therapy Center on Beacon St. in Washington Square has been providing an invaluable service to the Brookline community for more than 40 years.  It was established in 1978 at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis as an integral part of its psychoanalytic training program. Since then, thousands of patients from a broad range of backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns have come to understand how talking in a therapeutic relationship can free them from negative patterns of behavior.

Our Process

At the Therapy Center we provide affordable, confidential, individualized therapy in an inclusive clinical setting. Our therapists encourage people to talk about their challenges in an environment free of judgement. We have found talking in a therapeutic relationship to be the best way to examine problems, find freedom from troubling patterns of behavior, and make long-lasting change.

Community Referrals

The Therapy Center, with its strong community presence, receives referrals from local professionals as well as colleges such as Boston University, Northeastern University, UMASS and M.I.T Mental health centers such as Arbor and Brighton Allston and Hospitals such as Brigham and Woman’s, Dana Farber and Beth Israel Deaconess also send patients to the center. The Therapy Center also receives referrals from area K-12 schools for students seeking child, adolescent, and family therapy.
